Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons licenses provide everyone with a standardized way to grant permission to the public to use their work under copyright law.  they answer the question, "What can I do with this work?" - from https://creativecommons.org/about/cclicenses/

There are six licenses:

Creative Commons License

CC BY: allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the crator.  This license allows for commercial use. 

Creative Commons License

CC BY-SA: allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator.  Allows for commercial use.  If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms. 

Creative Commons License

CC BY-NC: allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes onlym and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.

Creative Commons License

CC BY-NC-SA: allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommerical purposes onlu, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.  If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material unider identical terms. 

Creative Commons License

CC BY-ND: allows reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in an unadapted form only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.  Allows for commercial use. 

Creative Commons License

CC BY-NC-ND: allows reusers to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format in unadapted form only, for noncommercial purposes only and only so long as attribution is given to the creator.
